If you’re a dog owner, then you know how strong the bond with our pets can be. This dog proved that a human-canine friendship can last forever.

A couple of years ago in the Chinese province of Shaanxi, an elderly man affectionately named “Grandfather Wu”, passed away.

The man left behind his beloved German Shepherd dog of 12 years.

Dog heartbroken after owner’s passing

The dog was heartbroken at losing the only owner he’d ever known. Soon after Wu’s passing, the dog, named Huzi, started to show serious signs of depression.

When Wu’s family went to visit his grave, Huzi came along with them. And his behaviour left them all heartbroken.

GSD digs at owner’s grave

The dog started to circle around the grave, sniffing at the ground. Suddenly, he started to scratch and dig in the dirt, as if trying to get closer to his beloved owner.

It was a devastating scene for the whole family. Thankfully, they love Huzi and know him well. They continued to care for him for the rest of his life.

If this doesn’t prove that dogs are truly man’s best friend, then we don’t know what does!
