There are some dog breeds that are sure to attract some attention: Great Danes or Afghan Hounds, for example. But this breed is beyond eye-catching!

Shaun Kingsworth and Katrina Springs are well-known in their Northamptonshire neighbourhood for their very particular pets.

If it’s the first time you’re seeing them, you might mistake them for lions! But no, they’re just dogs! Tibetan Mastiffs to be precise.

Adopted Mastiffs

Bear, who is around 3 years old, was adopted by Shaun after his owner relinquished him because he couldn’t handle his size. Indeed, Bear already weighs 11st 8lbs, but he could reach 15st as he gets older. The massive dog is as tall as his owner when he stands on his back legs.

Amira was adopted 6 months after Bear from a Romanian rescue. As a female, she is lighter, weighing in at 9st 4lbs.

Big dogs with big hearts

Although the dogs are absolutely huge, they are described by their owners as gentle giants, who adore their children and love to sit on the sofa or on the bed with them.

They certainly are beautiful, as majestic as the king of the jungle!
