In October 2019, military and civil police in Rio de Janeiro were carrying out inspections of people suspected of being involved with drug trafficking and other such crimes.
During this inspection, a young homeless man named Fabio de Souza Cesario was asked to come to the station to verify a few facts. The man complied and entered the police’s vehicle.
Best friends to the end
However, what happened next stunned everyone, including the police officers. As they drove Fabio away, they noticed a dog running alongside the car and barking frantically. Though they continued to drive at a steady pace, the dog didn’t stop, and even tried to move in closer to the vehicle, as if to force it to a halt.
Mission accomplished
Realising that the dog would either injure himself or cause traffic disturbance, the police decided to stop and open their doors. The timid pooch was reluctant to hop in at first, but when he saw his beloved owner in the back of the car, he jumped right in to join him.
Now that is what we call a best friend – with you through thick and thin! This story has a great ending too – the two were released shortly after once Fabio’s information had been verified. We’re glad all ended well for these two; they deserve it!
