Shea soon noticed that the stray cat she’d been feeding was producing milk and was therefore likely to have kittens somewhere.
Worried about the kittens, Shea went looking for them but couldn’t find them. So, she did the only thing she could do: she asked the mother cat. Shea began talking to the cat about her kittens and asked if she would show them to her.
Feline introductions
The next day, Shea got a wonderful surprise. She was out in her garden when the mother cat ran towards and began rubbing on her leg. The cat led Shea to a shed and inside were five tiny kittens.
The mother cat then began calling to her kittens. While the kittens were initially nervous, the mother cat encouraged them to come outside. One by one, each kitten eventually appeared and went over to Shea, who was able to pick them up and stroke them.
Forever homes
Once she'd met all the brood, Shea took the mother cat and her kittens to her house, where they would be safe.
It didn't take Shea long to find loving homes for all the kittens once they became old enough to be adopted. As for the mother cat, Shea decided she wanted to give her a loving forever home herself.
