It was a ginger cat, curiously watching the restaurant entrance.
Sarah opened the door and gently approached the tomcat.
A very friendly cat
She thought the tomcat might be wary of her, but it was quite the opposite. The ginger cat was incredibly sociable and craved human affection! The restaurant team decided to name him Cheeto, after his beautiful ginger coat.
Over the next few days, Cheeto really made himself at home at the restaurant. He started spending time on the terrace, greeting customers and staff with great affection. He loved to snuggle up to customers and ask for strokes. Incredibly, Cheeto seemed to think he was part of the restaurant team!
The right decision
Although the entire restaurant team would have loved to keep Cheeto on as a staff member, they all knew he needed a permanent home and proper care. The restaurant was located near a busy road with a lot of traffic, which wasn't safe for the cat.
So, the employees contacted Emily Shelton Gamel and Terry Gamel, two rescuers who care for and neuter stray cats. Emily and Terry posted notices on several lost cat groups, but no one came forward to claim him.
Fortunately, Cheeto didn't have to wait long. The tomcat was adopted by a family who already had a lovely female cat named Qai. Cheeto and Qai instantly became the best of friends, much to the delight of their new family!
