In early May 2024, several volunteers from the Somerset Regional Animal Shelter in New Jersey, USA, spotted a tiny kitten. The little one was clearly in a bad way and was trapped inside a drainpipe.
The rescuers quickly set about helping her. Once they managed to catch her, the little kitten, who they named Stormi, was taken to the shelter to be kept safe and receive initial veterinary care.
But a few days later, the Somerset Regional Animal Shelter received a phone call that would take them right back to the scene of the rescue.
Another kitten was in the same spot
Also trapped with no way out, another tiny kitten had been spotted by some kind souls. The little black and white animal was even smaller than Stormi and was constantly meowing for help.
The volunteers rushed to the scene to free the little feline from her damp prison. This kitten, also a female, was named Sunny. Although she looked nothing like her blue-coloured sister, the two kittens were delighted to be reunited in a foster home after Sunny received some veterinary attention.
A happy ending
Once they were back on their paws, Stormi and Sunny were put up for adoption, and their dream came true: they were adopted together and will never be separated again.
