Left behind in the flat
Earlier this year, Nikki from the Best Friends Felines rescue group received a call from an estate agent.
The agent explained they had found a mother cat and her kittens left behind after the tenants moved out. When volunteers arrived, they found the little family, but sadly, two of the four kittens had already died.
Growing stronger every day
The surviving cats were quickly moved into foster homes. The foster carers watched over the kittens and bottle-fed them, as their mother was too weak to care for them.
Volunteers soon realised the mother had a high fever caused by an infection. It took several days for her temperature to come down. Once she was back on her feet, the mother, named Golda, was able to care for her two remaining kittens again.
“She is a lovely cat, she lets them climb and sleep on her. She has no problem letting them nurse,” the rescue group told LoveMeow.
Today, the mother and her kittens are doing well. They are growing stronger every day and thriving in their foster homes.
The kittens will stay with their mother until they are ready for adoption. Golda will then be spayed so she can find a loving forever home of her own, where she can be truly pampered.
