In 2024, Marissa Monteleone shared some wonderful news with her followers: she had decided to adopt a cat.
However, her trip to the rescue centre didn't quite go as planned. Already a proud owner of two dogs, the influencer headed to a local cattery to meet the cats available for adoption.
More than she bargained for
The story could have ended there, with Marissa falling for a cute little face and offering a cat a new life.
But as she revealed in a video, Marissa didn't come home with one cat, but two! She explains that she had fallen for a cat she saw online, only to learn during her visit that he had a brother.
Keeping the brothers together
The rescue centre explained that the brothers could be separated, but Marissa and her husband felt differently. "My husband and I looked at each other straight away and just knew we had to take them both," she explained. "We already have two dogs, Pluto and Astro. So we brought the cats home and named them Rover and Cosmo to stick with the space theme."
After a short settling-in period, the two brothers made themselves right at home. "They're inseparable. Rover is very curious and loves to play. Cosmo is very sweet and a little shy compared to his brother. They are complete opposites, but they complement each other perfectly. They sleep together, groom each other, and play together," she told Newsweek.
