Urine and faeces from floor to ceiling: 80 cats rescued from a filthy home (video)

By Ludivine Mazzotti

Officers from the Lancaster Township Police Department in the US contacted the Pennsylvania SPCA after being called to a filthy home.

When they arrived at the property, officers were met with a hellish sight.

They discovered a house in appalling conditions, with urine, faeces, and rubbish covering the floors and even the ceilings.

A search warrant

They also found a large number of cats and kittens roaming freely inside. The police had a warrant to enter the property on the grounds that the living conditions were unsanitary and failed to provide the cats with clean and safe shelter.

Rescuers from the Pennsylvania SPCA spent several hours removing all the cats from the home and ensuring each one was safe. In total, 78 Ragdoll cats and kittens were rescued from the house of horrors.

Getting the care they need

All the cats and kittens will be carefully examined and will receive all the veterinary care they need. For now, they are resting at the shelter, enjoying the comfort of a clean and safe environment.

The rescuers have urged anyone with information about the cats or any other case of animal cruelty to contact them, even anonymously. It is hoped that these cats and kittens can soon put their ordeal behind them and find themselves relaxing in the warmth of a loving home.
