Kass started hearing faint meows coming from the air conditioning ducts outside her house.
The investigation begins
She had spotted a mother cat prowling around the house and wondered if she was looking for her kittens.
So, she and her husband began to search for any kittens that might be stuck in the pipes.
At first, Kass could only see one kitten inside the duct. She left some cat treats outside the opening and then stepped back.
One brave kitten emerged to investigate the smell of the treats, and then another followed.
Kass was delighted to see the kittens freed. She went to bed feeling relieved, thinking that all the kittens were now safe with their mother.
The hardest part was yet to come
However, the kitten mission was far from over!
The next morning, Kass heard more meowing coming from the basement near the air conditioning unit.
This time, the rescue was more tricky. A kitten was completely stuck deep inside the pipe, meowing non-stop.
To free him, they had to take the pipe apart, prying it open with pliers.
Kass's husband then reached his arm inside the pipe to grab the kitten and pull him out.
The little chap stopped meowing the moment he was out of the pipe!
Kass and her family then took the kitten to a local rescue centre, where he was examined. Fortunately, he was in perfect health.
He is about five weeks old, and the family decided to name him Murph. They have now made the decision to officially adopt him into their family!
