The adorable pitbull, named Cruz, was labelled an aggressive dog at the San Bernardino City animal shelter. But this didn't stop one incredible woman from believing in him.

Cruz was found roaming the streets as a stray in 2015. At the time, he was sick, dirty, and very wary of humans, as if he had had some sort of bad experience with them in the past.

Due to his behaviour around people, the shelter deemed him a dangerous animal, but this couldn't be further from the truth.

An anxious pooch

Luckily, a kind woman named Maria Sanchez realised that the only thing this dog needed was to regain trust in humans. And she had to act fast – before the shelter decided to euthanise him.

A second chance

So she filmed an interaction with him in which she revealed his true nature. She calmly slipped her arm through the kennel bars, reaching out toward Cruz, and speaking to him in a cheerful and reassuring manner. Though it took some time, she finally convinced Cruz to approach her, and she was able to stroke him while he wagged his tail happily.

Because Maria was able to prove everyone wrong about this beautiful dog's personality, he was eventually adopted, and is now living his best life with his new loving owner! Thank you, Maria!
