The entire family was wary of people and kept avoiding the animal rescuers.
A tricky rescue
When the kittens were seven weeks old, rescuers from the Tails High shelter finally managed to bring them all to safety. The kittens were very nervous and needed to be socialised in a home environment.
Asa, a volunteer for Tails High, took the kittens into her home. She gave them a quiet, comfortable space, washed them carefully, and made sure they had all the food they needed to grow strong.
The mother cat, named Kona, was examined and spayed. Her kittens were named Samosa, Pierogi, Ravioli, and Wonton.
Winning their trust
At first, Pierogi was the only affectionate kitten who would come to his rescuer for a cuddle. On the third day, Ravioli began to trust Asa and started to purr softly in her presence.
Samosa and Wonton were the shyest and needed more time. Asa's patience paid off when the two timid kittens finally let their guard down and approached her. They started to let her pet them after six days.
After two weeks of settling in, the kittens were fully adjusted to life indoors and were able to meet the rest of the household.
Just a month ago, these little ones were living under cars, hiding on a busy street. Today, they love to scamper around the house and snuggle up with their playmates in their foster home!
