The cat seemed to be watching over the box as if it were her treasure inside.
The passer-by discovered that inside the plastic container, there was a litter of kittens...
Watching over her little ones
The devoted mum sadly couldn't free the little ones. She was waiting patiently for someone to come to their rescue. So, the passer-by called Mitchell Animal Hospital veterinary clinic as quickly as possible to get help.
This clinic is a partner of Purrfect Match Cat Rescue. The members of the organisation agreed to the vet's request to take them in. When the rescuers arrived at the scene, they found the cat who hadn't moved from beside the plastic box.
Two missing legs
As they got closer, the rescuers noticed that the cat had lost both her back legs. The five kittens were dirty and dehydrated, but seemed well fed, which suggested they had been abandoned recently. Sadly, two kittens from the litter didn't survive.
After several examinations and a good bath, the family is doing well. Kenna the cat has adapted and manages to get about without her back legs. The rescuers believe that the cat's injuries are old, caused by past trauma or a congenital malformation.
Kittens Lyle and Giles will soon be joining their forever families, whilst Kenna and Kayla are still waiting for their future humans. We wish them all the best for what lies ahead!
