Minouche is a true survivor. Found amongst the seafront restaurants in the town of Ajaccio in Corsica, France, she was in a poor state and didn't inspire much pity from anyone. She was a nuisance.
Fortunately, the rescue "Des z'amours de chats" learnt of her sad situation and was able to help her. Injured after being bitten by several dogs, the blue moggy was rushed to the vet to be treated and spayed, which resulted in the loss of her kittens.
Ten days after arriving at the rescue and once her recovery was complete, she was about to be given a very special mission.
An orphaned kitten in need of a mum
Like most rescues at this time of year, "Des z'amours de chats" is no exception and has to cope with the arrival of kittens at its facility. A plump little black kitten called Vitamine was amongst the residents of this small rescue, and the team decided to introduce her to Minouche so that the little three-week-old cat could have the chance to grow up with a mum.
On 6th June 2024, without any hesitation, Minouche agreed to take Vitamine under her wing. With some food supplements and a good diet, Minouche's lactation was able to resume. Vitamine could now fully enjoy her new mum's milk and, above all, her affection.
On 11th June, a few days after this duo was formed, the rescue "Des z'amours de chats" took in a new kitten, much smaller this time, whose health was worrying. Around a month old, he weighed just 5.8 ounces, which is equivalent to the weight of a kitten of only ten days or so. However, the little cat was quite lively, but he cried constantly after being raised by a mother cat who was only six months old herself and didn't have enough milk. He was therefore introduced to Minouche, who accepted this new little one with the greatest of joy.
In just 24 hours with his new mum, the little kitten, named Vigor, gained 1.4 ounces. Since then, the two little kittens have grown considerably and have discovered the delights of kibble and wet food. They will soon be available for adoption, as will their mum, who also deserves to find her forever family.
