A huge disappointment. A year ago, the SPA des Vosges Saônoises located in Haute-Saône, France, had to face one of its worst nightmares.
That summer, two Boxers were adopted from the shelter. The team had obviously followed all the necessary protocols and procedures, but they can never be completely protected from a bad placement. And sadly, that's what happened to these two animals.
Three weeks later, they were unrecognisable
Even though the shelter always takes maximum precautions when placing its residents, particularly by highlighting that certain dogs have a past or specific needs, it's still impossible to completely guard against errors of judgement.
For adopters, it's not always entirely clear that adoption is a real commitment, and some don't always fully grasp what's being explained to them. But three weeks after the two Boxers were adopted, there was every reason to be angry when seeing the state of the two dogs.

After less than a month in their new family, the two dogs had lost several pounds and appeared to have been severely neglected. Shocked and disappointed, the members of the SPA des Vosges Saônoises shared photos of the two animals in a Facebook post to highlight what animal welfare organisations face.
Whilst the general public can often be heard criticising the formalities and procedures that are deemed too burdensome for adopting an animal from a shelter or rescue, this testimony helps us understand that they're far from unnecessary.
