Rescue staff and volunteers will tell you this: they love getting updates on the dogs and cats they've rehomed.
As Newsweek reports, Gina and Amy recently adopted Boomer, a dog who had arrived at the Humane Society of Richland County rescue in the United States.
When the couple discovered Boomer's profile, they were saddened to see that he'd been waiting months for a family.
Love at first sight
The thing was, the dog wasn't comfortable around men. Gina and Amy immediately thought that Boomer would be perfect for their home.
The couple then contacted the rescue to meet Boomer. After a seven-hour drive, the women finally met the dog. And it was love at first sight!
They returned the following weekend to continue bonding with the dog before bringing him home for good. After 549 days in the rescue, Boomer had finally found his new family.
The transition went incredibly smoothly. When he arrived, Boomer settled in straight away, much to the family's delight.
Gina and Amy decided to create a Facebook page dedicated to their new dog. It's given them the perfect opportunity to share photos of the animal's new life. One of the photos particularly touched the rescue, who decided to repost it on their Facebook page.
