On 13th January, rescuers discovered two puppies abandoned near a motorway.
The puppies, named Oliver Twist and Artful Dodge, were immediately taken to a vet.
A second abandonment
But that wasn't the end of it. Four weeks later, rescuers were called out again for a similar case of abandonment, just 12 miles from where the first two puppies were found near the motorway.
All the puppies were severely neglected and in urgent need of veterinary care. They were suffering from a terrible skin infection, had lost some of their fur, and were riddled with worms. The rescuers are now appealing for any information about the puppies and the people who abandoned them.
A dangerous and illegal act
On Facebook, the rescue team issued a reminder that not only is abandoning animals extremely dangerous for them, but it is also illegal.
Oliver Twist and Artful Dodge have since found their forever homes. The two puppies found more recently are now recovering and regaining their strength at the rescue centre's kennels, where they will stay until they are ready for adoption.
