Well done Freyja!

Here's a wonderful story that will warm your heart. In the United States, in New Hampshire, a German Shepherd helped authorities find a 2-year-old girl who had gone missing in the woods.

As reported by People, 90 people volunteered to find her, including the organisation "New England K-9 Search and Rescue". With temperatures hovering around 39 degrees Fahrenheit, it was vital to find her quickly.

An extraordinary sense of smell

Among the volunteers were Jeremy and Freyja, his 7-year-old dog. Five hours after the child went missing, Freyja picked up a scent. Jeremy then called out to the little girl and found her.

"She was in very rough woodland. I could see she was cold and frightened", he explained.

Following the rescue, the little girl was taken to hospital for a health check.

For his part, Jeremy said he was "extremely proud" of his dog, who helped a child be reunited with her mum.
