Six weeks on holiday

The poor Husky was left tied to a tree without water or food. After a week, police who had been alerted discovered the dog exhausted, emaciated and surrounded by his own excrement.

Taken to the vet and then placed with a rescue organisation, the Husky was "lucky to survive" according to the organisation's president, who mentioned "the August heatwave".

Owner faces serious charges

The owner was summoned to the police station upon his return from holiday. Taken into custody, he admitted to the facts and explained he had tried to find care for the dog without success.

He will be tried for animal abandonment and faces three years in prison and a €45,000 fine.
