Summer was doing her rounds at a car dump, searching for dogs in need.
She left food for stray dogs to gain their trust and rescue them safely.
Huge surprise
She headed towards a truck where she'd already spotted some strays wandering about. That's when she noticed a face she didn't recognise. Many of the dogs Summer encountered were terrified, but not this one. This dog, later named Peaches, was ready to be rescued.
However, Summer already had several dogs in her car, so she left food for Peaches and promised to return soon. She went back to drop the dogs off at the sanctuary and immediately returned to fetch her.
A very patient dog
When she returned, the dog had finished her food and was waiting for her rescuer, sitting by the roadside. Summer opened the door of her truck and Peaches jumped right in. She even licked her face!
After a vet examination, Peaches was diagnosed with mange, worms and fleas, as well as being underweight with several wounds across her body. She received treatment for all her health issues and followed a special diet to help her return to a healthy weight.
Peaches recovered at the sanctuary and flourished completely in her new environment. Today, Peaches relaxes, learns to play with toys and walk on a lead. She loves cuddles, playing fetch and splashing about in water. She's the perfect family dog, so Summer hopes the dog will soon be adopted to fill a family with joy!
