Joanito immediately became suspicious and rushed over to investigate.
After tearing away the tape and rope wrapped around the box, Joanito found a terrified little dog huddled at the bottom.
A life in danger
The poor dog had clearly been alone for hours. Joanito knew what he had to do: he carried the dog to safety at the rescue centre. Once inside, the dog, later named Hope, was examined for any potential injuries.
The brave dog was able to rest in a comfortable bed. This rest helped her recover from the terrible ordeal. Days passed and she began to heal and put on weight.
Towards a new future
PAWS Mauritius shared Hope's story on social media, hoping to encourage potential pet owners to give a rescue dog a chance. Shortly afterwards, a man named Voshan contacted the shelter and said he wanted to meet Hope.
As soon as he looked into her eyes, he knew straight away that this dog belonged in his family. Today, Hope is a completely different dog, happy and relaxed with her new dad. We wish them all the happiness in the world!
