Abby is an adorable elderly Chihuahua.
When her last family adopted her, she thought she'd found her forever home.
Animal cruelty
Sadly, in June 2025, her owners surrendered her to a Las Vegas rescue centre. The rescuers were shocked to see the dog was terribly thin. Her bones were protruding: you could see the outline of her spine, ribs and hips. She'd probably been starved by her owners...
Her eyes looked sad and defeated. It was as if she'd accepted she'd spend her final days at the rescue. Fortunately, after a week, a new family stepped forward to give this elderly dog a chance. Abby went to her new loving home.
Building strength
To help her gain weight, her new family gave her goat's milk, which provides an easily digestible source of protein, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium and vitamin A, along with bone broth. Just 24 hours after her adoption, Abby had already regained some strength.
Everything was going well at home. Sadly, five days after arriving at her new house, the worst happened. Her human announced Abby's passing in a Reddit message earlier this week. However, the family finds comfort in knowing that Abby didn't die behind rescue centre bars. She was showered with endless love during her final days. Internet users shared their compassion in the comments: "Thank you for giving her a second chance, we need more people like you!" Our thoughts go out to Abby's family.
RIP Abby.
