When Ryan Dyer was 12-years-old, he was gifted the puppy of his dreams. He named the black crossbreed Jack, and the devoted duo quickly became inseparable.
The years went on, and Jack never left his human's side. So it came as no surprise that when Ryan met Lib, he wanted her to be involved in every aspect of his dog's life.
The best of friends
“When Lib and I moved in together in 2019, she became a massive part in Jack's life, too. He’d sleep on our bed or couch in between us, have a puppuccino while we had our morning coffees- but most importantly, he was our chief food taster … every meal we cooked in the kitchen, he tried it first”, Ryan told The Dodo.
When the couple decided to get married in March 2024, there was never any doubt that Jack would play a huge part in their wedding. But heartbreakingly, just days before the ceremony was due to take place, they were faced with an unthinkable reality.
Their constant companion for almost 19 years, Jack started suffering untreatable seizures. “Planning his goodbye was honestly the toughest thing we’ve had to do”, Ryan explained.
Celebrating together
Despite the heartache, Lib and Ryan decided to continue with their wedding, giving their beloved boy a day most dogs could only dream of.
Surrounded by friends, family, cuddles and cake, Jack was given the best farewell he could have asked for.
