On Thursday, 15th January, rescuers were called out to help a litter of puppies that had been abandoned in the countryside.
The rescue team was alerted by members of the public who had first discovered the puppies.
Just one day old
The eight abandoned puppies were barely a day old. When they were found, they still had their umbilical cords wrapped around their necks. The poor little things were lying directly on the cold ground. They were freezing when the rescuers found them and would certainly not have survived much longer.
The puppies were warmed up and have been bottle-fed every three hours. But the rescuers needed help to provide the round-the-clock care the puppies required. They reached out to their network of foster families, and four families stepped up, each taking in two of the pups.
A crucial reminder
Sadly, a few days later, one of the puppies didn't make it. He had suffered too much from the cold following the cruel abandonment. In light of this heartbreaking situation, the SPA wanted to share an important reminder: help is always available, and organisations like rescue shelters are there to support people who are struggling with their pets.
The surviving puppies are now being lovingly cared for in their foster homes. The rescuers hope they will quickly get stronger and grow up healthy. They will be ready for adoption in three months' time. We wish them all the best for their future.
