The poor pup was found without her mother, even though puppies typically stay with their mothers until they are around 10 to 12 weeks old.
At the end of March, the shelter shared Boo’s heartbreaking story.
A short-lived adoption
Boo was adopted by a family who, sadly, returned her to the shelter just 24 hours later. The reason? She cried too much.
It’s important to remember that Boo is still just a baby, recently separated from her siblings for the very first time. Crying is natural for puppies adjusting to such a dramatic change.
Adopting a puppy can be a joyful experience, but it also requires dedication, patience, and time. Puppies who are suddenly removed from their mother and littermates often feel anxious and overwhelmed.
They need reassurance, stability, and lots of love to begin to feel safe in their new home.
Public backlash
Many people online were outraged after hearing about Boo’s swift return to the shelter. One commenter wrote: “I would never allow them to adopt again. All puppies cry, this is terrible!” Another added:
“Comfort her, she’s a baby. They didn’t deserve her.” A third person said: “She’s just a baby and has been through so much in such a short time. Humans can be so cruel.”
Boo is now waiting for her forever home, one with patient, loving people who will give her the time and care she needs to grow in confidence and feel safe.
We sincerely hope she finds them soon.
