Paul O’Grady’s husband, Andre Portasio, has shared a moving video filmed just 20 minutes before the beloved presenter passed away.

The footage, posted on the second anniversary of O’Grady’s death, captures him expressing heartfelt thanks to voters for an award, surrounded by his cherished dogs.

O’Grady, best known for his drag queen persona Lily Savage and presenting For The Love Of Dogs, died at 67 from a sudden cardiac arrhythmia at his Kent home on 28 March 2023.

Heartbreaking clip

In the 35-second clip, he cradles his dog, Eddie, while thanking supporters of his children’s book, Eddie Albert and the Amazing Animal Gang.

"It's hard to believe it's been two years," Portasio wrote. "In this bittersweet moment, you see him as the genuinely kind man he was."

Animal lover

Fans and celebrities, including Gaby Roslin and Michelle Collins, responded with tributes, celebrating O’Grady’s warmth and legacy.

Marking O’Grady’s birthday, Portasio added: “We miss you dearly. Happy heavenly birthday, Paul.”
