Gizmo came into her owner’s life in 2012, when she was rehomed from a colleague who was moving abroad.
From that moment on, she became more than just a pet—she was a beloved companion, a source of joy, and a reminder of unconditional love.
One of a kind
Unlike most cats, Gizmo never had a desire to explore the great outdoors.
"I once opened the patio doors and physically placed her outside, and she just gave me a disgusted look and went straight back indoors," her owner fondly recalls.
This clever feline even learned the routine of treat day, meowing at the cupboard every Wednesday, knowing it was time for her beloved Dreamies.
The hardest goodbye
Sadly, in 2024, Gizmo suffered a stroke that left her unable to use her back legs. Faced with an agonizing decision, her owner chose the kindest path - to let her go peacefully.
"It was the most heartbreaking decision I had to make," he shared. "As I waited for her to go, I swear she looked at me as if to say, ‘It’s okay Dad, I know it’s the best thing for me, don’t be sad.’"
Saying goodbye is never easy, but sometimes, the greatest act of love is to end suffering.
Gizmo may be gone, but the love she gave will never fade—proof that the bonds we share with our pets remain, even after they’re gone.
