Dog lover Niall Harbison spends his days caring for the stray dogs of Koh Samui, Thailand.
He prepares fresh food for over a thousand homeless dogs, including a little brown dog named Snickers.
The start of a beautiful friendship
Snickers began her life as a family pet, welcomed into a home with young children when she was still a baby herself. At first, she received plenty of love and attention. But as she grew, her family began to lose interest in her. Heartbreakingly, she was left to fend for herself outdoors.
This is the same fate many stray dogs in Koh Samui face, who often struggle to survive.
Thankfully for Snickers, her story took a turn for the better the day she met Niall Harbison.
He decided to include her on his regular feeding rounds, visiting her each day with a meal and some attention.
Most dogs greet Niall with a wagging tail, but from the moment he met Snickers, he knew something was different.
The sweetest gifts
The first present Snickers brought Niall was a flip-flop.
"It felt like she was saying, you can use this", explained the dog lover with a smile.
From that moment on, she began bringing something almost daily. From children's toys to individual shoes, she offered every gift proudly.
Then, after a year of wonderful gifts and an ever-growing bond, Niall decided to bring Snickers to his shelter.
At Happy Doggo she has finally learnt how to be a carefree pup. She now spends her days playing with her new friend Teddy, and she's even worked out how to play fetch!
Recently, Niall brought a new box of toys for Snickers, along with her very own collar.
"After everything she had brought me, it was my turn to give her something special," he wrote on social media.
Niall is confident that Snickers will soon find a loving home. And with her unique character and playful nature, she is sure to make a wonderful companion.
