When Rambo was rescued, he was in such a bad way he was taken into hospice care. But as he settled in, it turned out things weren't quite what they seemed.

"Every once in a while we get a dog in that completely deceives us" explains the Humane Society of Munroe County on Facebook.

Brought in by his family, 10-year-old Rambo was so feeble, he could barely walk.

Fooling everyone

The staff lovingly cared for him, but they knew that kennels were no place for a dog in his condition.

So, they arranged for him to go into hospice care, with a volunteer who had been caring for him at the shelter.

Rambo wobbled off home with his foster family, who were thrilled to give him the peaceful ending he deserved. Then, just like that, everything changed...

Rambo's transformation

"We sent him home with two lovely ladies to live out the last of his life. But Rambo is a big, fat fibber!", joked the rescue.

It seems Rambo waited until he arrived home to show everyone who he really was. Far from the tired, frail senior dog he seemed in the shelter, he now jumps fences, chases balls and plays games!

He may not have been who they thought, but his foster family couldn't be more delighted.
