The dramatic rescue unfolded when a passerby heard the ice cracking and spotted the cat submerged up to its head in freezing water.
Two local contractors, Nate and Kris, who were working nearby, sprang into action, using a rowboat and a shovel to break through the ice.
Time was of the essence
They managed to pull Tiki to safety just moments before the cat would have succumbed to the cold, according to Westford Animal Control.
The cat was brought inside, shivering and in shock. Animal control officers arrived to find his temperature so low it couldn't even be measured on the thermometer.
He was immediately transported to a vet for treatment.
A miracle
Tiki's owner later suggested the cat may have been chased outside by a predator, leading him to the icy waters. Thankfully, Tiki is now recovering at home, resting comfortably after his harrowing ordeal.
Animal control described the rescue as "nothing short of a miracle," praising the quick actions of those who saved the cat's life.
