A lorry driver was walking back to his vehicle after making the final delivery for the day, when he heard a strange noise.
He stopped in his tracks and started to investigate.
A haunting cry
As he approached his lorry, the driver realised the sound he had heard was very desperate and persistant meowing.
Fitz began to examine his lorry, searching every square inch for the little stowaway. To his surprise, a white and grey cat suddenly appeared from behind the lorry's suspension springs.
He had no idea where the cat had come from or how long she'd been there. All he knew was that she was lucky to have survived the entire journey unharmed.
The start of a beautiful friendship
Fitz took the little cat back to the hotel where he was staying. Once there, he washed and dried her off, before settling her in for a well-deserved rest.
Exhausted after her ordeal and clearly happy to be safe, she fell asleep immediately.
The next day, Fitz took his new friend to the vet, where she was checked over for any sign of injury. The vet also scanned the cat for a microchip, to see whether she had an owner.
Thankfully, Micki, as she was later named, was found to be in perfect health.
But with no owner to claim her, she needed a new home. Thankfully for this lucky little cat, she had already found one, albeit in the most unexpected of ways.
Fitz decided to adopt Micki, and the pair returned to the lorry together. Micki will now accompany her human everywhere he goes, safe and loved in her new home on wheels.
