The day started out perfectly for crossbreed Ollie, happily heading off for a walk with his owner. Little did he know, things weren't quite what they seemed.

When they first got into the car, Ollie was the happiest dog in the world.

Not only was he with his favourite person, he'd been given his favourite snack too...

A tragedy for the unsuspecting pup

What Ollie didn't know, was that his owner had tricked him!

Desperate to keep him calm on the way to the vets, she had come up with a cunning plan.

The peanut butter treat Ollie had happily taken as he got into the car, was in fact stuffed with a sedative to help the nervous pup cope with the vet.

An effective sedative

"Accidentally captured the exact moment my dog started feeling drowsy and realised we aren't going to the park", his owner explained on Instagram.

As the sedative starts to kick in, Ollie begins to slump on the back seat of the car.

His eyes seem to widen as he makes the connection with the vet clinic. "Tragedy", reads the caption.

The video has now been viewed 2.3 million times, leaving many dog lovers in stitches. Others felt sympathetic towards Ollie and his fear of going to the vet.

"The look of betrayal when he realised", joked a viewer.
