A Dobermann has melted hearts around the world, after his owner shared a clip explaining why he could never be successful as a guard dog.

The breed may be known for its suitability as a guard dog, but Dobermanns are also extremely affectionate, sensitive companions.

The sweetest boy

"Reasons my 'guard dog' is terrible at his job", she captioned the clip.

She then went on to explain why, matching each reason with footage of her sweet boy.

"Offers gifts to everyone who comes to the door", she begins, as she shows the gentle giant carrying a toy in his mouth.

"Scared of random things", she continues, showing him hiding underneath the table.

"And thinks everyone who comes to the house is there for him", she concludes, ending the clip with a moment between the Dobermann and a contractor.

"Love as a distraction"

The video has now been viewed over 33,000 times, with fans praising the dog's wonderful nature.

"Or! He's terribly GOOD at his job and uses kindness and love as a distraction while you call the police", joked a viewer.

"His job is to be fabulously cute! With overtime!", replied another.
