On the steps of the Main Street church in Clay City, Kentucky, sat an unmarked box with a handwritten note:
To the pastor's astonishment, inside were six tiny puppies, only days old.
Call for help
Fearing they wouldn’t survive in the cold, the pastor immediately contacted Powell County Animal Shelter. The team responded quickly, collecting the puppies and ensuring they received immediate care.
Without their mother to nurse them, the pups were placed in temporary care.
Social media appeal
The shelter has since issued a public appeal on Facebook, asking for help identifying the mother dog's owner. They stressed the urgency of locating her to prevent future litters and provide her pups with the necessary nourishment at such a critical stage.
The shelter continues to search for families willing to care for the puppies long-term. While efforts to track down their mother continue, the team is committed to ensuring the puppies grow healthy and strong.
Good luck, puppies!
