Devastating flash flooding, known locally as DANA, saw almost a year's worth of rain fall in a matter of hours in the region of Valencia.
Now, the heavy rain has moved further south, causing damage and disruption in Andalusia.
Red alert in Jerez
A red alert was issued in Cádiz last week, warning people of the flooding to come.
Among the most affected were a number of rescue centres, with many animals left to cope as best they could.
Shelter workers and volunteers documented the devastation, later sharing the heartbreaking image of cats climbing onto furniture, desperately trying to protect themselves from the water below.
Rescue centres in need of help
"The @protectorasananton rescue of Jerez (Cádiz) needs help! Because of #DANA, their structure has been completely flooded", explained Pacma, in a recent appeal for urgent help.
"I hope everyone will contribute where they can", commented one concerned viewer on Instagram. "By working together we can help bring back some sense of normality".
Another centre badly affected in Cádiz was SOS Perrera de Los Barrios, who works in the south of the region caring for dogs who have been abandoned.
"The heavy rain has flooded the pound yet again, leaving our dogs in urgent needed of temporary foster homes", wrote the rescue.
This isn't the first time the pound has flooded, and each time, sees the dogs in grave danger.

FAADA (*) has put together a list of all the rescue organisations and shelters across Spain who have been badly affected by the storm.
Homes and supplies in urgent need
Rescues are working tirelessly to find urgent foster homes for dogs and cats, while they wait for the flooding to subside.
They also need donations of blankets, animal food, pet carriers, litter trays and cleaning products, in addition to towels, food and veterinary supplies.
