The dog, later named Skagway, had sparse patches of wiry hair, large ears, and raw, pink skin.
Her appearance was startling, but it was her calm and gentle demeanour that caught everyone's attention.
Severe fleas
The team quickly realised that Skagway's condition wasn't due to mange, as they initially suspected. Instead, she was suffering from severe flea infestation, which had caused her fur loss and irritated skin. Along with her physical ailments, including arthritis in her hind legs, it was clear she had been neglected for a long time.
Despite her poor state, the staff wasted no time caring for Skagway. They bathed her, began treatment, and shared her story online, hoping someone would give her the love she deserved.
Remarkable transformation
Soon after, a woman named Halle Gordon responded, offering Skagway a warm, comfortable home. Within a month of receiving proper care and affection, Skagway underwent an amazing transformation.
Her hair grew back, and she even began moving around more easily.
Today, Skagway is a completely different dog, thriving in her new life, and her future is brighter than ever.
