A woman who adopted a puppy from a local shelter received an unexpected surprise after a visit to the vet.

TikTok user @mothmother initially adopted the dog believing it was a small female and named her Beatrice.

Despite some doubts about the puppy's appearance, she trusted the shelter's information.

Gender confusion

Shortly after sharing videos of Beatrice on social media, a Dachshund breeder suggested the puppy might actually be male.

The couple then renamed the dog Walter. However, the situation took another turn after a trip to the vet.

The vet revealed that Walter was an intersex dog, possessing both male and female reproductive organs.

Social media star!

The couple decided to change the dog's name to Ziggy. The rare condition, though surprising, did not affect how much they loved their new pet.

Ziggy, now living happily with his adoptive family, has become a social media sensation. His story has gained attention from animal lovers across the internet.
