The owner was walking his dog in Abruzzo, Italy, when he heard a high-pitched squeal coming from a wild creature.
Peering up ahead he spotted three animals; two grey wolves were hunting a wild boar. And they were too frantic to even notice the man and his dog.
Somewhere between fear and fascination
The wild boar tried desperately to free himself from the clutches of the wolves. But as experienced hunters, their teamwork gave them the upper hand.
“It was as if I had stepped into another world,” the man later described, when asked how his experience of true wilderness made him feel. Unexpected and untamed, the experience filled him with both fear for the boar and himself, combined with a certain level of fascination.
A viral video
The video quickly went viral, with over 250,000 people in awe of the sheer power and determination of both the wolves and the boar.
"Incredible to have seen this in real life", commented one viewer.
"It's never pleasant to watch this", wrote another. "But they too have to survive".
