While on duty, she was approached by a woman clutching a plastic bag.
Shocking discovery
PC Tongue looked inside and was stunned to see a Cocker Spaniel puppy inside. The woman explained that she couldn't care for it anymore.
Underweight and in poor condition, the month-old puppy immediately touched PC Tongue's heart.
"She was tiny and hadn't had a good start in life," PC Tongue said. "I decided then and there that I would take care of her."
The officers at Walsall Council's Civic Centre, where the local police are based, chose to name the puppy Bella. Since being adopted, Bella has thrived under PC Tongue's care.
Happy ending for Bella
"Bella is doing great. She has gained weight, is very loving, and learns quickly," PC Tongue shared. Bella has already mastered basic commands like 'sit,' 'lay down,' and 'stay' and enjoys simple agility exercises.
To support Bella, officers and council workers raised funds for her vet bills and microchip. PC Tongue shared that Bella is now full of energy, loves playing with her toys, and enjoys activities like rolling in water and digging.
Despite her rough start, Bella is now living a joyful life, thanks to PC Tongue's dedication and care.
