The athlete has been dubbed the 'Turkish John Wick', and like John Wick, he has a weakness for animals.
His heart has been captured by cats.
The most famous Turk of the Games
Surely any of us who follow the Paris Olympics even a little bit will have seen the picture of 51-year-old Yusuf Dikeç.
With his hand in his pocket, without special glasses or headphones, he won a silver medal for Turkey, together with Şevval İlayda Tarhan, in the 10m air pistol shooting mixed competition.
His calm demeanour and nonchalance combined with great professionalism brought him international fame.
Lover of shooting, dancing and...cats
A glance at the Turkish athlete's Olympic profile, as well as his social media, gives some insight into his interests. Professionally, he was a non-commissioned officer in the Turkish police and it was during his service that he became interested in shooting, which he has practised for more than 20 years.
Speaking to Turkish media, Dikeç stressed that he did not need specialised equipment during the competition because he is a born shooter and shooting comes naturally to him. He always shoots with both eyes open; additional equipment is inconvenient for him. He only needed corrective glasses and earplugs.
Interestingly, the Olympian's life philosophy is "Success does not come with your hands in your pockets".
In his spare time, Dikeç enjoys dancing and spending time with his cat, as evidenced by the athlete's photos on Instagram. Turks are famous for their love of cats and Yusuf is no exception.
The Olympian's cat has also gained internet fame through the Games. Since Dikeç is called the Turkish John Wick, by analogy with the series of films with Keanu Reeves, it is common to see comments in the media that the pet is untouchable, otherwise his owner would have taken cruel revenge (and created material for four films)!
