To the woman’s astonishment, a little pit bull puppy was inside the Pampers nappy box.
Abandoned puppy
The poor pup had just been abandoned in the box like rubbish.
Worried for the puppy’s welfare, Robin contacted West Side Cat Rescue to see if they could help.
Jamie Mulligan, founder of West Side Cat Rescue, took the call and leapt into action. She suspected that leaving the puppy in the box outside Robin’s shop was deliberate as the person knew Robin would help him.
Second chance
Though the shelter focuses on cats, its team made an exception for a puppy, who they named Frankie. Jamie decided not to send him there, as local shelters were already overwhelmed with pit bulls. Instead, the rescue team took Frankie to the vet, and provided him with food, a collar and a lead.
Jamie’s daughter, who frequently assists at the rescue, quickly bonded with Frankie and called him Percy. She decided to keep him, so he effectively became a foster fail!
Now safe and loved, Percy will never face abandonment again. “He will only receive the best care from now on,” West Side Cat Rescue assured on Facebook.
