The volunteers eagerly awaited the arrival of a new group of dogs from Romania, hoping to find them homes in Germany.
Shocking incident
But during the excitement, something completely unexpected happened.
A visibly drunk couple arrived, claiming they were there to adopt one of the dogs. The smell of alcohol coming from both the man and woman, there could be no doubt they were both intoxicated.
But their plan quickly fell apart as they came without a car or a proper crate.
They then announced they would take the dog home by train instead and called a taxi to take them to the station. The volunteers became increasingly concerned about the dog's welfare if the couple took it as planned.
Left empty-handed
Fortunately, when the taxi arrived, the driver refused to transport the dog without a crate for the animal's safety.
The volunteers had no choice but to step in and explain that if the couple couldn't guarantee the dog's safety, they wouldn't be able to adopt it. Reluctantly, the couple left empty-handed, without the dog they had intended to adopt.
The shocking incident was shared on Facebook, where users could only express relief that the volunteers refused to let the couple take the dog. They also condemned the couple for thinking they could take charge of a dog while drunk and transport it on a train.
The dog, named Fibi, is now in the care of the volunteers, waiting for a responsible and sober family to provide a forever home.
