While taking a walk, a man noticed there was something moving on the train tracks. When he got closer, he realised it was no less than a dog!

The man knew he had to do something to get the dog out of such a dangerous place. He contacted Hope for Paws who soon sent out volunteers to capture the Shar Pei.

But the Shar Pei, later named Tweedy, was absolutely terrified. She was very hard to catch, and even once on leash, she thrashed around, barking and biting into the air as if to say, ‘let me go!’

Thorough check-up

However, once Tweedy arrived at the animal shelter, she seemed to realise the people around her were only trying to help. She instantly relaxed and allowed herself to be examined and cared for.

The vets diagnosed her with several health issues including a broken elbow, fractured teeth, an ear infection, and an eye infection.

Soon after, it was noticed by her foster family that she also had trouble seeing. The vets further diagnosed her with entropion (quite common in the breed), for which she had to receive lengthy treatment as well.

On the road to recovery

But luckily, Tweedy was soon back on her feet.

She was taken back into her foster home and her personality completely blossomed. What a change from the petrified dog on the train tracks! Now Tweedy is described as affectionate and sweet-natured, proving just what a little TLC can do.
