A man in Massachusetts diagnosed with terminal lung cancer has issued a heartfelt plea for help in rehoming his cherished canine companion, Babs.

After being informed he has only six months left to live, 63-year-old David Fine is determined to find a loving home for Babs, his elderly Shar Pei and Boxer mix who has been his faithful companion for a decade.

David, a retired carpenter, embarked on a journey with Babs to fulfil his lifelong dream of visiting national parks across the country.

However, their plans were disrupted when Fine fell seriously ill while travelling in Wyoming, just miles away from Yellowstone National Park.

Despite battling health issues, including Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia and vascular disease, David's priority is ensuring Babs finds a suitable home where she can receive the care and companionship she deserves. With no children to help him, David's search has become even more desperate.

Wanted: new home for Babs

Describing Babs as intelligent, well-behaved, and affectionate, David emphasises her need to be the only pet in a household without small children.

While he knows finding a new home is the best thing for Babs, David can't help but feel reluctant to part with her. But he knows the difficult reality he faces and that finding her a new home is essential for her well-being.

David remains hopeful that someone will step forward to provide Babs with the love and attention she needs in his absence, allowing him to find peace knowing she is cared for.

We hope that Babs doesn't have to wait too much longer for a new home.
