While there may be many ethical breeders out there, there are also many people who use puppies as a way to make money.
TikTok user X.Kaylahh discovered this the hard way, after she brought her new dog home.
Tricked by the breeder
The puppy was originally sold as a Teacup Yorkshire Terrier, for 2,000 dollars.
Teacup terriers are a miniature version of the standard Yorkshire Terrier, meant to grow to around 7 inches tall.
But soon after arriving in his new home, it quickly became obvious that things weren't what they seemed. The puppy grew and grew, and his owner quickly realised she had been tricked!
A loveable surprise
"I bought a nearly 2,000 pure breed teacup yorkie, just for him to turn into...". writes his owner, before the clip cuts to an image of the dog as he looks now.
Happily sitting on the bed with is fluffy ears and silver coat, her beautiful boy certainly isn't what she thought she was bringing home that day. His size suggests there's nothing Teacup about him, which the breeder would have known when she handed him to his family.
But Bentley is adorable just the way he is, and while he may not be the puppy she thought she was getting, we're sure his owner loves him just the way he is.
