Shelter staff were amazed to find a frail stray dog outside on the doorstep, appearing to have arrived there all by herself.
Desperate need of help
The frail stray’s eyes seemed sorrowful, pleading for the same warmth and security enjoyed by the shelter’s resident canines.
Hera was taken into the shelter and there they found that the poor dog was battling severe skin inflammation and scabies. Tests also found that she was anaemic and in a dire state, requiring immediate treatment.
After a soothing bath, Hera seemed to know that she was finally safe and in good hands. Her demeanour and how she responded to those helping her suggested to staff that she had once been a family pet. But who knows why or how she ended up in such a dreadful state.
Happy ending for Hera
Thanks to the vet's treatment plan, Hera’s skin soon began to show huge signs of improvement. But it was the sheer joy of finally finding a forever home that really got her tail wagging.
She relishes all the love and affection she gets from her new owner and knows she now has a home and family to call her own.
Hera’s remarkable transformation has seen her go from a lonely, neglected stray to a beloved family pet who wants for nothing.
Hera’s story shows what difference love and compassion can make to a stray dog.
