When Phoebe was handed into Severn Valley Rescue, the team knew she would need extensive veterinary treatment.

Phoebe was born with an incredibly rare condition. The 7-month-old kitten is missing her hip joints and has hyperextend back legs.

While vets are certain she isn't in pain, they do believe surgery would give her the best chance at a long and happy life.

A team effort

When Phoebe's family realised they wouldn't be able to afford her vet care, they brought the cat to Severn Valley Rescue.

The rescue enlisted the expert help of Southwater Vets, to develop a surgical plan to help the little kitten. While the vet team had never seen a case quite like it, they were determined not to let that stop them!

The emergency fundraiser

X-rays, CT scans and orthopedic consult would require funding of around £3,000, the rescue concluded, with additional costs once surgery began. This made helping Phoebe alone an impossible task for Severn Valley Rescue.

A fundraiser was created online, with a target of £6,000. Thanks to support from around the world, the rescue has already managed to raise an incredible £5,983, which has left them "all very emotional at the rescue".

For Phoebe, these donations mean she will be able to receive the treatment and ongoing care she needs, in order to have a happy, healthy future.
