When animal control officers were called in to help an abandoned dog, they had no idea of the shocking scene that awaited them.
Arriving at the property, they found a dog in terrible condition. Left without food or water and with nobody at the property, it was clear he needed emergency vet care.
Emergency rescue
The minute she started tossing him treats, rescue worker Hannah could see how sweet the dog was. His tail began thumping, and he seemed so grateful to have the company of caring humans around him. But, after days without food, he couldn't even stand.
Rushed to the vet, a treatment plan was put in place to help him regain strength and to get him back up on four paws. Wide-eyed and very timid, is was apparent that the outside world was new to Chance.
An incredible transformation
Chance was offered a foster home with the rescue's vet receptionist, who had heard of his story and wanted to help. With lots of love, attention, and playtime with her resident dog, Chance blossomed, and it quickly became apparent that he had found his family.
And it wasn't just his trust that grew over time... it was also his belly!
From the emaciated dog he was, Chance is now a happy, healthy boy, who loves snuggling with his mum and playing with his doggy friends.
