Having escaped the floodwater, these three sheep were left stranded. Thankfully, an incredible dog stepped in to save the day.

First making landfall on the 19th of October, Storm Babet has raged across the UK in recent weeks, causing extensive flooding and destruction.

In the midst of the chaos caused by "Babet", one dog recently became a hero, rescuing three sheep badly in need of help.

A heroic act

When 44-year-old Welsh farmer Llyr Derwydd, from Flintshire, went to check on his flock, he discovered three sheep had been stranded due to the heavy rain.

Trapped on a tiny piece of meadow, surrounded by water, the three sheep couldn't work out how to get back to safety. The piece of land was becoming smaller and smaller, so Llyr knew he had to get them to dry land.

Wondering whether his sheepdog Patsy would be able to help, he gave her the command to move towards them. The stunned farmer couldn't believe his eyes when she dove straight in and headed for the sheep!

A job well done

He may have known Patsy was an excellent swimmer, but Llyr most definitely didn't expect the enthusiasm with which his sheepdog took to the rescue mission at hand.

"It saved me from getting wet and from getting into a dangerous situation and it saved the sheep, so it was perfect", commented the proud owner.

On social media, one viewer suggested Patsy should be rewarded with a nice T-bone steak, but as a working dog, Derwydd had other ideas. Patsy got a "pat on the head" and was told she was a "good girl", with an extra dog biscuit at the end of the day. From the look on her face as she completed her mission, that was all the praise she needed.
