All Ronald wanted was to find a forever home, but after enduring 14 failed adoption attempts, the pup had almost given up hope. But then everything changed.

Ronald is a big, loveable one-year-old mixed breed who was initially taken in by the Wake County SPCA in Raleigh, North Carolina.

14 failed adoptions

Sadly, Ronald’s journey to finding his forever home quickly turned into a rollercoaster. Within just a month of his arrival at the shelter, Ronald had trial adoptions with three different families and attracted interest from 11 other families. However, despite his gorgeous looks and loving nature, his boisterous energy and substantial size proved too challenging for many prospective owners.

However, the turning point came when the SPCA shared Ronald’s story on Facebook, accompanied by a series of adorable photos. The post quickly went viral, leading to 70,000 shares and over 800 inquiries from interested adopters.

Ronald’s happy ending

Fortunately, even though his latest placement fell through, Ronald’s fortunes were about to change. Kiersten Davis and her husband, Corey Pierce, whose names were on a waiting list, got the call they’d hoped for. Ronald was available. The couple were thrilled and Kiersten rushed to the shelter to bring him home, where he instantly bonded with the family, including their two young sons and dog.

Six days after he first went viral, Ronald’s adoption became official. At last, Ronald’s unlucky streak was over. Everyone was thrilled. And it was all thanks to the extraordinary power of social media.
